What a Dental Implant Actually Is
Think of it in three parts. A small titanium post takes the place of the tooth root you lost, set into the jawbone where it fuses to the bone over the following months. A process called osseointegration. Once that’s healed, we attach a small connector piece, the abutment, and your new tooth on top. That’s a custom crown for a single missing tooth, or an implant-supported bridge if you’re missing a few in a row.

That’s the real difference between an implant and a bridge. An implant replaces the root, so it helps hold onto the jawbone underneath it the way a natural tooth does.
